Quarter Sawn White Oak Kitchen

iamge from one of our projects

This was a project that really gets to the ethos of Denny’s Cabinet Shop and is a representation of what we are all about. This project was in a home that was full of amazing woodwork but had a kitchen that, well, was not. Below is a series of pictures that illustrates the level of detail that We put into our projects. The design elements of this kitchen were inspired by the woodwork throughout the rest of this historical home. This series of photos shows the original box newel post in the stairway of the home. I took this as inspiration for the corner posts of the kitchen Island. I turned 8 rosettes on the lathe then hand carved the pedals to make the matching flower rosette.

Below is showing how we opened up the kitchen to the dining room adding a peninsula/ breakfast bar. It also shows the lengths I will go to (over 10 stain sample boards) to make sure the new cabinets and trim that I was making will fit right in alongside existing woodwork.

Not only is outward beauty of our cabinetry important, but the functionality of the space is also very important. Below are a few photos of a custom cold pantry with a flip up door. This door is inset into the finished end panel. This achieves the functionality of being able to access the whole top cabinet while not sacrificing on the look of the end panel. Also pictured are a few shots of the finished product highlighting the beauty of the quartersawn white oak.
